Julie Smith is a communications instructor at Webster University. She is the author of "Master the Media: How Teaching Media Literacy Can Save Our Plugged-In World" and has taught media courses at Webster for more than 15 years. She has presented on media-related topics all over the US and Europe and currently lives in St Louis. Smith is on the leadership Council for the National Association for Media Literacy Education (NAMLE) and is on the Executive Board for Gateway Media Literacy Partners. Smith received her BA in Public Relations and Marketing from the University of Tulsa and holds a Master of Science in Mass Communications from Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville.
